This Do In Remebrance of Me

This Do In Remembrance of Me

1 Corinthians 11:23-32

5 Ways to look at the Lord's Supper

1. Look backward -"Look backward at the body Christ gave and the blood He shed."

Body:
 2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Blood:
Hebrews 9:22
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

2. Look upward -"Look up and rejoice that we serve a risen Savior."

Colossians 3:1
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

3. Look around -"Look around at others, we have an obligation to care for one another"

Ephesians 2:19-22
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

4. Look within - "Look within for unconfessed sin in our hearts. Let us not make light of our own sin."

2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

5. Look forward - "Look forward to Christ return"

1 Corinthians 11:26
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

Because He is Risen...

Because He is Risen...

Matthew 28:1-6
In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven,  and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.  And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

1. Death is conquered! - "We have a joy and a hope that we will one day be with Christ."

Romans 5:17 - For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

I Corinthians 15:54-58 - So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

2. Redemption is complete! - "We can gain righteousness through Christ"

Romans 8:1 - There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Isaiah 53:10 - Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

Romans 8:31-39 - What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

3. Our glorious resurrection is secure to all who believe!

John 11:25:26 - Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

HE IS RISEN!!!

Matthew 28:6
He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Shadow of the Cross

Shadow of the Cross

lyricsThe streets were lined with people.

The streets were lined with people
The crowd was pressing in.
Then Jesus fell exhausted
As their hatred fell on Him.
His cross was rough and heavy.
I witnessed love’s great cost
As I followed Christ up Calv’ry’s hill
In the shadow of the cross,
In the shadow of the cross.

The soldiers did their duty
With coldness on each face.
Christ offered them forgiveness
As the spikes were nailed in place.
His blood was freely given.
His wounds He bore for us.
Then He died as I stood watching there
In the shadow of the cross,
In the shadow of the cross.

This life that I’ve been given
Belongs to Jesus Christ
Who purchased my redemption
When He died to pay its price.
I owe Him full surrender
For all salvation cost.
I will live to serve my loving Christ
In the shadow of the cross.

It's Friday but Sunday's Comin'

It's Friday...but Sunday's Comin'

"It's Friday. Jesus is praying.
Peter's a sleeping. Judas is betraying.
But Sunday's comin'.

It's Friday.
 Pilate's struggling.
The council is conspiring. The crowd is vilifying.
They don't even know that Sunday's comin'.

It's Friday.
The disciples are running like sheep without a shepherd.
Mary's crying. Peter is denying.
But they don't know that Sunday's a comin'.

It's Friday.
The Romans beat my Jesus.
They robe Him in scarlet. They crown Him with thorns.
But they don't know that Sunday's comin'.

It's Friday.
See Jesus walking to Calvary.
His blood dripping. His body stumbling. And his spirit's burdened.
But you see, it's only Friday. Sunday's comin'.

It's Friday.
The world's winning. People are sinning.
And evil's grinning.

It's Friday.
The soldiers nail my Savior's hands to the cross.
They nail my Savior's feet to the cross.
And then they raise him up next to criminals. It's Friday. But let me tell you something: Sunday's comin'.

It's Friday.
The disciples are questioning. What has happened to their King.
And the Pharisees are celebrating that their scheming has been achieved.
But they don't know: It's only Friday. Sunday's comin'.

It's Friday.
He's hanging on the cross feeling forsaken by His Father.
Left alone and dying. Can nobody save Him?
Oooh, it's Friday. But Sunday's comin'.

It's Friday.
The earth trembles. The sky grows dark. My King yields his spirit.

It's Friday.
Hope is lost. Death has won.
Sin has conquered. And Satan's just a laughing.

It's Friday.
Jesus is buried. A soldier stands guard. And a rock is rolled into place.

But it's Friday. It is only Friday.

Sunday is a comin'."

His Robes For Mine

His Robes for Mine

His robes for mine: O wonderful exchange!

Clothed in my sin, Christ suffered 'neath God's rage.
Draped in His righteousness I'm justified.
In Christ I live, for in my place He died.

Isaiah 53:4-5
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

(Chorus)

I cling to Christ and marvel at the cost.

Jesus forsaken, God estranged from God.
Bought by such love, my life is not my own.
My praise, my all, shall be for Christ alone.

Matthew 27:46
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama
sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

His robes for mine: what cause have I for dread?
God's daunting Law, Christ mastered in my stead.
Faultless I stand, with righteous works not mine.
Saved by my Lord's vicarious death and life.

Philippians 3:9
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but
that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

His robes for mine: God's justice is appeased.
Jesus is crushed, and thus the Father's pleased.
Christ drank God's wrath on sin, then cried, "Tis done!"
Sin's wage is paid, propitiation won.

John 19:30
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and
he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

John 17:4
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

(Chorus)

I cling to Christ and marvel at the cost.

Jesus forsaken, God estranged from God.
Bought by such love, my life is not my own.
My praise, my all, shall be for Christ alone.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye
have of God, and ye are not your own?For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify
God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

His robes for mine: such anguish none can know.
Christ, God's beloved, condemned as though His foe.
He, as though I, accursed and left alone.
I, as though He, embraced and welcomed home!

John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Vintage Wedding Shower

~ Vintage Wedding Shower ~

I love planning parties, so me being the maid of honor had the privilege of giving my sister her wedding shower, along with my other sister. It all started with an idea for the theme. We decided to do a "Vintage/Family History Theme". My sister is having a 1940's Vintage wedding so we tried to keep with her theme without taking anything away from it. After we figured out a theme we began planning decor and foods. We couldn't go ALL out like I would have loved to, because we had a budget so we just had to be creative.

The Food: We wanted all of the food to be mainly pink and white. All of our dishes were either White Pfaltzgraff Heritage our Pink Depression Glass. We thought that having all the food and dishes color coordinated would give it a nice, polished look.

Strawberry Fruit Salad

Carrot Cake

Turkey Sandwiches

Brie Cheese & Crackers

Pink Lemonade Cake
Vanilla Cupcakes

White Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Display Cake (from Sugar Monkey Cupcakes)
sugarmonkeycupcakes.com

The drink table.

The Decor: The decor was obviously vintage. The color scheme were vintage colors, pink and mint green. We tried to incorporate as much vintage as we could in the design without going over budget.

We incorporated the pink and mint green at the dessert table with the pom poms
and balloons. I had to make the pom pom in the middle because I couldn't find it in the color I wanted. I'm not the really crafty type, but making the pom pom was very easy.
(Here's a link to the tutorial:
Homemade Pom Pom Tutorial )

My boyfriend made this really awesome tree to go with our family history theme.
We put all of our families pictures on the tree all the way back to our great - great - great grandparents.

We put one of my sister's engagement pictures in an oval frame and painted it the same color as the tree.

The rocking chair and vintage items were taken from our home.

I thought it would be neat to have vintage items on the gift table that would have been used as wedding shower gifts. I didn't think it would be possible to find all of these items at budget-friendly price, but my mom found them. I thought it enhanced that vintage feel that we were going for.

The tables had 3 mason jars which displayed vintage family photos and a
white milk glass vase.

My sister thought that popcorn bags would be a good favor. I came up with the corny lil' saying on the tag. "Ben popped the question and she said YES!"

We had the bride-to-be come dressed up 1940's vintage clothes.

Mother of the bride, Bride-to-be, Maid of Honor, Sister of the Bride.

The bride-to-be was very surprised and well pleased with how it all turned out. It
was definitely worth her not being able to go in our basement for two and a half weeks.
